In Romans 1:16, what does it mean to believe? Can we make ourselves believe? Could you believe in pink flying elephants if it was really important to do so? Why do some believe, and others don’t? Why might some hold firmly and others not? These are just some of the questions to consider in this week's edition of the Walking Talking Bible Project.

Memory Passage: Romans 1:16
Romans 1:16
16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek.
Connection Passage #1: 1 Corinthians 15:1–8
1 Corinthians 15:1–8
1 Now, brothers, I want to remind you of the gospel I preached to you, which you received, and in which you stand firm.
2 By this gospel you are saved, if you hold firmly to the word I preached to you. Otherwise, you have believed in vain.
3 For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance: that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
4 that He was buried, that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures,
5 and that He appeared to Cephas and then to the Twelve.
6 After that, He appeared to more than five hundred brothers at once, most of whom are still living, though some have fallen asleep.
7 Then He appeared to James, then to all the apostles.
8 And last of all He appeared to me also, as to one of untimely birth.
Connection Passage #2: Romans 6:4–7
Romans 6:4–7
4 We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection.
6 We know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be rendered powerless, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.
7 For anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
Connection Passage #3: Hebrews 10:35–39
Hebrews 10:35–39
35 So do not throw away your confidence; it holds a great reward.
36 You need to persevere, so that after you have done the will of God, you will receive what He has promised.
37 For, “In just a little while, He who is coming will come and will not delay.
38 But My righteous one will live by faith; and if he shrinks back, I will take no pleasure in him.”
39 But we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed, but of those who have faith and preserve their souls.
